Violinist Francesca Abusamra is a performer and teacher in New York City. She is an active chamber musician, performing with various ensembles. She is a founding member of opus87 Piano Quartet, an ensemble dedicated to bringing both new music and classical repertoire to a variety of audiences.
As a prizewinner in the American Protégé concerto competition, Ms. Abusamra performed at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. She has also performed in the Detroit Symphony’s Orchestra Hall, playing the Bach Concerto for Two Violins with DSO Assistant Concertmaster Hai Xin Wu and chamber orchestra. She has appeared on television, playing for the Real Housewives of New Jersey, and the Food Network’s Worst Chefs in America: Celebrity Edition. She also has done recording work for independent film.
She enjoys performing in orchestra, recently serving as principal second violin in the Manhattan School of Music Philharmonia Orchestra. Ms. Abusamra plays weekly at Calvary-St. George’s church, and performs regularly at the Morgan Library and Museum. She is currently obtaining her Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music, where she studies with Peter Winograd, first violinist of the American String Quartet. Her violin is Jonathon I.
